Barra Fit Oceania Games 2018

The Barra Fit Oceania Games will consist of exercises in a similar way to the Barra Fit sessions in the GB Schools. The Barra Fit Oceania Games are designed to be a challenging and fun family event! Even if you don’t do Barra Fit, you can still compete! Have a look at the Barra Fit Challenge 2017, at the GB Oceania HQ, here

Adults

The winner of the Barra Fit Performance and Combat will be determined by who can complete the most repetitions in 1 minute, with a 1 minute rest in between. 

The winner of the Barra Fit Survival must do a 300-exercise workout, divided in 6 exercises of 50 repetitions each. The winner is whoever does completes the 300 exercises first, or who can do the most exercises in 10 minutes. If the athlete has finished the 300 exercises their time is recorded, or if the time runs out it will score how many exercises they have completed.

The Barra Fit Group Game consists of Jiu-Jitsu exercises, fitness and finishes with a run. In each exercise, the individual completes the drill, then tags their partner with a change over drill, then their partner will do the next exercise. The best athletes from every GB School can compete in the Barra Fit Group Game. There will be a maximum of the 4 best athletes per GB School. The athletes will be decided through the ranking points, accumulated through the Barra Fit Performance, Combat and Survival exercises.

Kids

The winners of the Kid’s Barra Fit Performance will be determined by whoever completes the circuit in the fastest time. The winners of the Kid’s Barra Fit Combat will be determined by whoever completes the most repetitions. All the exercises are designed to be fun, but still challenging, containing self-defence and Jiu-Jitsu drills. The winner of the Barra Fit Survival will be the child that completes the most repetitions of the exercises in 5 minutes.

The best athlete from every GB School, and from each age group, can compete in the Barra Fit Group Game. The athletes will be decided through the ranking points, accumulated through the Barra Fit Performance, Combat and Survival exercises.

*If the athlete doesn’t perform the exercise properly, the referee will say to that athlete “No Rep”.

The Barra Fit Oceania Games 2018 will be held at GB Oceania HQ, Unit 6, 128 Old Pittwater Road, Brookvale, NSW, 2100

Sunday the 8th of July 2018, starting at 9am.

There will be two divisions for each age category, separated by genders. There will be Kids, Adults and Masters categories, separated into male and female divisions. The divisions available are:

Kids

– 7 to 8 years old

– 9 to 10 years old

– 11 to 12 years old

– 13 to 14 years old

– 15 to 16 years old

– 17 to 18 years old

Adults (18 to 34 years old)

– Male

– Female

Masters

– 35 to 39 years old

– 40 to 44 years old

– 45 to 49 years old

– 50 to 54 years old

– 55 to 59 years old

Men: Black GB Shorts and the Barra Fit T-Shirt that will be given to the athlete when they arrive on the day. If the athlete does not have the GB Shorts, they can use plain black shorts.

Women: Black GB shorts or black GB leggings, and the Barra Fit T-Shirt that will be given to the athlete when they arrive on the day. If the athlete does not have the GB leggings or GB shorts, they can use plain black leggings or plain black shorts.

Kids: Black GB shorts and the Barra Fit T-Shirt that will be given to the athlete when they arrive on the day.  If the athlete does not have the GB Shorts, they can use plain black shorts.

BARRA FIT PERFORMANCE & COMBAT

Adults:

Barra Fit Performance

  • Station 1
    • 90 degree jump squat
    • Hip switch (sit outs)
  • Station 2
    • Footwork drill agility ladder
    • Slam ball pick up, slam and sprawl

Barra Fit Combat

  • Station 1
    • 6 punches (straight punches), break fall and stand up in base.
    • Mount on kickshield or punching bag – 6 punches, then come up, simulating standing closed guard, top strikes (6 punches)
  • Station 2
    • 6 punches (straight punches), 6 knees, 6 front kicks against the wall mats, then sprawl.
    • Knee Ride switch on the kick shield or punching bag 6 punches between switches

Kids:

Barra Fit Performance

  1. Run along heavy bag or other balance obstacle
  2. Run and jump hurdles
  3. Agility cones
  4. Sideways bear (over obstacle)
  5. Pull rope to finish
  6. Crocodile under/through obstacle (tunnel ebay)
  7. 3 push ups chest to ground.
  8. Double Leg referee and mount

Barra Fit Combat

  1. Frog to start position
      • 6 duck under (proper squat with leg)
  2. Gorilla to start position
      • 6x high cover to back
  3. Bear to start position
      • 6x Jumping
  4. Hip Escape
      • 6x shadow box with sprawl

BARRA FIT SURVIVAL

Adults:

The Barra Fit athlete must do 300-exercise workout. Divided in 6 exercises of 50 repetitions each. The winner is who does the fastest with a maximum duration of 10 minutes. If the athlete has finished the 300-exercise their time is recorded or if the time runs out it will score how far they progressed into this survival game.

  1. Body Squats
  2. Push Ups (normal)
  3. Jump and Sprawl
  4. Sit Ups ( touching the referee hands)
  5. Lounges and Knee ( 25 each leg)
  6. Plank Push Ups

Kids:

  • 10 Squats
  • Invisible Chair 20 seconds
  • 5 Push Ups
  • Superman 20 seconds

The way we will score this game will be by a code related to the round. The winner of the Barra Fit Survival will the student who completes the most repetitions within 5 minutes.

BARRA FIT GROUP GAME

Adults:

  1. Squats with the Front Kick
  2. Push Ups Side to Side
  3. Bridges (touching the mats over the shoulder)
  4. Running

Partner Drills between the partner change over

  1. Sit up touch the hand with your GB Team partner
  2. Sprawl and jump touch hands
  3. Pushup with partner clap hands.

Kids:

Each athlete will have a tail tied behind them. The athlete who takes the most tails in 2 minutes will win points for their GB School!

The winners of individual divisions will receive medals.

The top 3 fittest overall GB Male and GB Female athletes will also receive a certificate. These individuals will only gain points for the overall team division.

The fittest GB Family will be awarded to the husband, wife, and children (or child) that has the most points combined. Points will be awarded through the individual divisions, depending on their performances. The top three fittest GB Families will receive a certificate. These families will only gain points for the overall team division. The family can consist of husbands, wives, children, brothers, sisters, girlfriends, boyfriends and other immediate relations. The two best scores from your family will count towards the GB Family’s points. This gives a greater opportunity to those families that are smaller, but also provides greater chances to bigger families to get a higher score.

The fittest GB Couple will be awarded to the partners that have the most points combined.  Points for this division will be awarded through the individual division, depending on their performances. The top three fittest GB Couples will receive a certificate. These couples will only gain points for the overall team division. The couple can consist of husband & wives, boyfriends & girlfriends, or other partners.

Trophies will be awarded to the overall fittest GB School, with trophies given to the first, second and third placed GB Schools, from the total points from all divisions.

The Early Bird registration will start on Sunday the 22nd of April, and close on the Friday the 8th of June. Registrations will still be open but will close on Tuesday the 3rd of July. All registrations come with a Barra Fit T-Shirt.
